When used as directed, and after it is completely dry, there should be no issues. Phantom is one of the few products that we sell that has a termite label for termite control, but can also be used in commercial kitchens. There should be no issues around children or pets.

When we get these questions, its almost like asking "which knife is safest" or "which bullet is safest" ?

Typically, Phantom will not kill plants. However, it is also not the best product for outdoor spider control. Onslaught Fastcap is specially designed for spider control and is safe to use outdoors and indoors.

There is no best spray for cockroaches. Phantom can work, but again it is not the best. It can take an arsenal of products to control and eliminate a severe german cockroach infestation. The best treatment for hardwood floors is Bora Care or Totality. Phantom is best used as a soil treatment. Its action in wood is limited and will not provide the long term protection that Bora Care will provide. Here is the link -

In most cases, the recommendation is for people and pets to remain away from the treated area until everything is dry. As long as there is adequate ventilation (doors windows open) and the Phantom is applied as directed, there should not be any issues. Phantom contains Chlorfenapyr and Taurus contains Fipronil. They are different chemicals with different modes of action on insects. Fipronil has a transfer effect on insects that can create an effect on the entire population such as Ant colonies and termites colonies. Chorfenapyr does not.

Powder post beetles "larvae" will chew their way through the wood, riddling it with galleries. But they are not the same as a gallery in which Drywood Termites would make. While you can drill into the wood and into the gallery that Drywood Termites would make, doing this for Powder Post Beetles would be very difficult. The reason is that each PP Beetle larvae would make its own gallery. You would have to find each gallery and drill into it. If you have a hundred or so PP Beetle Larvae in a section of wood, drilling all of these holes would be difficult to say the least.

Phantom was sprayed on the ground and fence near our peach tree that had fruit on it. The fruit itself wasn't sprayed. Is it safe to eat the peaches? See more »

Under most circumstances, spraying the ground surface near the tree will not result in the root system picking up the chemical and contaminating the fruit. If trenches were dug under the fence and a large amount of chemical were dispensed into the trench, and the root system picked the chemical up, then there is a minor chance that contamination could occur. I will tell you that the USDA reports annually on fruit tested in supermarkets, and the chemicals that they find in fruit - some legal and some not legal - would make you not hesitate to eat the peaches.....

It depends on where it is applied. In most cases, indoors, you will get 4-6 weeks maximum effectiveness before it starts degrading. But it really depends on where it is applied.
