That's a very broad question. Basic answer is - probably. The label directions do not specifically mention the Stachybotrys mold, but it kills almost everything else. Here is link to the label.

According the CDC website, 1 cup of bleach in a gallon of water will also kill this mold and almost all other molds. The problem becomes keeping the mold under control. If there is a moisture source which cannot be stopped, then the mold is almost certain to regrow at some point. Regular repeated applications must be made in this case. I would think that DSV would probably be a more efficient kill than bleach. Bleach is definitely a cheap control, but can also cause discoloration, etc… See full answer »

We had rats at our office and they have been removed. However, the area where they were is in a tight space between the ceiling and top of the bathroom area. You can't stand up in the space to clean with traditional methods, so I am wondering if there is at least some kind of disinfectant spray that we can spray up there with a wand type thing that will eliminate any urine odor that might be present. I

Any thoughts are greatly welcomed. Thanks so much!

Mary, there are no long extension wands longer than 18-24 inches that I am aware of. What most companies do that perform rodent disinfection services is to fog the area with DSV. DSV is a disinfection type chemical that does a good job of eliminating odors and also bacteria that are caused by rodent urine and xxxx . The only way to apply it is either with a hand spray tank (garden sprayer pump up works fine) or with a ULV fogging machine such as the Hurricane fogger.

Once diluted with tap water, the active ingredients begin to slowly degrade. Think of it like this - Day 1 - 100% effective, Day 2 - 98% effective, Day 3 - 95% effective. I am not sure exactly how long it will last at a toxic enough rate to kill viruses, but from what I have been told, it will last about 1-2 weeks at a rate toxic enough to use. After that the effectiveness falls faster and by 3-4 weeks it is not toxic enough to use. Hope this helps.

DSV works just like any other cleaner or disinfectant. It works when it is wet and it has some residual property. However, for best results, I recommend to use it on a frequent basis - sometimes daily or according to the label directions.
