Almost any pesticide kills spiders on contact. Essentria IC3 is a great product for killing them on contact, but if you see them, why spray them? I recommend using a good shop vac or the Atrix Bug Vac and just suck them up. Why waste good pesticide when you have to pick them up anyway (indoors).

For fleas, if you have to spray indoors, use Ultracide, and let it dry for several hours before you bring the child back indoors.

For fleas outdoors, Bifen, Cyonara and Onslaught all work very well. The animals also need to be treated and cared for. This is an ongoing process until the… See full answer »

If the house is not actually on the water, then any suitable insecticide such as Onslaught FastCap or Demand CS (both are microencapsulated) works well when applied every 30-45 days. Be sure to remove the spider webs first and then apply the products.

If the house is on the water or it is a boat house, then use EcoSafe Cob Web Cleanup as a repellent after the webs have been removed.

My horse barn is infested with wolf spiders now that the temperatures cool down. I like to get rid of them while not harming other insects and birds that feed on them especially bees. Futhermore I store my hay in the barn that my horses eat. What is the best method to rid myself of the spiders. (and I do not mind a few spiders...but I have legions of them) See more »

The best product to use in a horse barn with hay is Essentria. Essentria is a naturally based insecticide that kills spiders on contact and also helps to repel them. The only downside to using Essentria, is that it does not leave any residual and therefore needs to be reapplied every few days or week to get maximum effectiveness. Any residual insecticide could not be sprayed onto the hay and could be somewhat toxic to the horses. Essentria can be sprayed almost anywhere. Essentria can have a strong odor of peppermint and wintergreen but it goes away fairly quickly. Removing the horses before application is highly recommended. Let it dry and ventilate before allowing the horses in back inside.
