Hi! I have a carpet beetle/larve problem in my home and have been researching the best products to finally get rid of them. So far I've found 3, but I'm confused which one will be best. I want to spray the baseboards, corners, carpets and closets in all of my rooms in the house. I have a lot of square footage to cover! What would you recommend out of these three products; Ultraguard, Demand CS and Bifen for a) the quickest result, b) the longest lasting and c) safest for my cats (and my family)? Is there something else better?! Thanks a bunch! See more »

The problem with carpet beetles, is that they really don't feed on carpet - unless that carpet is wool. If the carpet is synthetic, you need to look elsewhere to solve the problem, such as closets, which could contain suits, socks, sweaters, etc, all made of wool. Also wool rugs or tapestries that have been in storage are great suspects.

Carpet Beetles for the most part are an outside pest that migrates indoors. In most cases, damage to wool items is minimal. Also Carpet Beetles in most cases are nothing more than a Dermistid Beetle that gets inside the house. They originate outdoors on plants, flowers, etc.

I live in a single wide trailer house and have roaches. I have tried everything that I can think of to get rid of them, including signing a contract with ORKIN. That has done me no good. They have not gotten rid of anything. I need help and "the experts" have been NO HELP.

The roaches are in my plants and in all of my furniture. The cabinets in my kitchen are unusable because of these things. I have dogs and cats, so I need something that won't hurt them.

What can I get or do to get rid of these nasty things? Please help!

It sounds like you have German Cockroach invasion. Actually, what we call a "serious infestation". Here are the 3 problems typically associated with ineffective german cockroach control -

I am trying to move out of an infested house without taking many of the bugs with me. If I wash clothes stored in my dresser drawers in hot water and them put them in Space Bags for the move will that help prevent moving eggs with me? I realize nothing is fool-proof. I just want to increase my chances. See more »

Cockroaches can lay eggs almost anywhere. If the infestation has spread to the bedrooms, and the roaches are living in the dresser, and there is adequate food and water sources, then, yes they can and will lay eggs in them.

Washing your clothes may help to kill the cockroaches that are inside of the clothes, but if the cockroaches are living and breeding inside the dresser, then only washing the clothes will not kill them.

We live adjacent to a buffalo farm... Very clean, rarely a scent. Our house is being destroyed and our porch is unusable due to all of the fly xxxx (looks like black mold everywhere). What is the most effective that can be sprayed on vinyl siding, around house, etc. See more »

In this situation, regardless of how clean the adjacent buffalo farm is, there will always be flies. To control them you will have to use a repellent spray such as Demand CS or Bifen on the walls, flooring and even the ceiling of the home. Maxforce fly spot bait sprayed on these areas may also be the answer.

I have a problem with spiders on my vinyl siding. The house is lit up at night which I know is part of the problem. The spiders are everywhere and they leave black spots on the white siding which is almost impossible to clean off. Power washing the house only gets rid of them for a week or two and then they return in force. Is there something I can apply to the siding that will kill them and stay on it keeping them from coming back for a period of time?

I have purchased several products from you in the past for termites and ants and they both worked great!

Thanks

Sterifab will kill most insects, including mites, scabies, lice etc. It is designed to be used on bedding, furniture, carpets, etc. It is not designed to be used on humans or skin.

Well, under the circumstances, I guess you did the best thing you could do. You froze the maggots (fly larvae).

Demon WP is not inherently harmful to pets when applied properly. Basically, keep people and pets away from any treated areas until it has completely dried. Here is a link to the label - http://www.epestsupply.com/images/Pro...

I am using Gourmet Ant Bait in KM Ant Pro Bait Stations. I feel sometimes I am living in an ant colony! Lots and lots of argentine ants marching in continuous long lines all around the perimeter of my house. I've had the stations up for a week. Some ants seem to be feeding in them but this is a small tickle compared to the number marching. Is there something that is a good shot that I should try adding to the Gourmet Ant Bait to make it more attractive? I put one station right next to one trail and none seemed interested. (While if I'd left a tea cup in my kitchen with a little tea and sugar in the bottom, I would have had a massive invasion.) I live in the SF Bay Area if geography is a factor. See more »

What you have to remember is that there is no bait better than what they are already feeding on. Ants are not scavengers, and they won't just eat anything. If they have a current food source, then getting them to transition over to anything else can take some time.

Hi Ron, I live at the edge of woods, so lots of crawlies. Discovered carpenter ants, tried at least 12 types of baits, finally found your site and got the KM liquid baits. After a few months with no change (ants and frass every day!) I spoke to someone in your office who had me move them slightly. Waited three more months and finally (thank GOD!) ants stopped.

Now, four weeks with zero ants (not a single one) and today I've seen five, three of which crawled over my feet. Ick.

Does something need to change for summer?

The baits are in shade about four feet from the house. I have two, one at each end (it's a tiny house, so only 28 feet by 8.5). Do I need another one? If so, it will be in full sun most of the day, which is why I didn't put any there.

I also have the Advance granules, something I tried before getting the baits. Was putting it inside the walls every three days, but saw no change.

Thanks SO MUCH for your help to preseve my sweet house, which is only two years old, and being so small, I need to stop them from chewing the whole thing down!

Warmly,
Sharon See more »
