Tim-bor Professional Insecticide and Fungicide Dust

Tim-bor Professional Insecticide and Fungicide Dust is about half as toxic as sodium chloride or table salt (in a laboratory setting), but very effective against insects and fungi that do not have the same excretion mechanisms !

Compare to: Nibor D, Bora Care

Tim-bor Professional Insecticide and Fungicide Dust is a fast and efficient way to treat a structure for drywood termites, wood boring beetles, carpenter ants and decay fungi. It can be used as a wood preservative, fungicide and insecticide on its own or in conjunction with other treatments as a supplement. Because of its application flexibility as a dust or liquid, it can be applied as a dust, spray, foam or mist onto wood and cellulose building materials or inside wall voids, cracks and crevices.

The active ingredient in Tim-bor Professional Insecticide and Fungicide Dust is a natural borate mineral salt with a low mammalian toxicity and has no known resistance. This active ingredient is known as Disodium Octaborate Tetrahydrate (DOT), a natural borate mineral salt and micro-nutrient. It is manufactured for use in the form of a water-soluble borate powder. Once it's applied in a liquid form by foaming, misting or spraying onto wood or other cellulosic materials, the borate active ingredient creates a protective envelope and remains for years of protection. Often Tim-bor Professional Insecticide and Fungicide Dust is dusted into places like wall voids where pests like to hide as an additional protection. When the dust gets on the insects, they clean themselves and consume the DOT during the cleaning process.

DOT is a natural form of elemental boron, which is essential for the healthy growth of plants and believed important in human calcium metabolism. Because animals and humans simply take what they need from their diet and rapidly excrete any excess via the kidneys, DOT has a low acute toxicity. As a result, Tim-bor Professional Insecticide and Fungicide Dust is about half as toxic as sodium chloride or table salt (in a laboratory setting), but very effective against insects and fungi that do not have the same excretion mechanisms.

Tim-bor Professional Insecticide and Fungicide Dust Features:
* Kills and controls drywood termites, beetles, carpenter ants and decay fungi
* Wood preservative and insecticide
* Highly effective and economical

Tim-bor Professional may be applied as a foam to wood surfaces or injected into wall voids or insect galleries.

Timbor is a white powder dust that is similar to boric acid. It is mixed with water and sprayed or brushed onto wood.

It can kill existing infestations of beetles, but a better product would be Bora Care.

Timbor does not penetrate wood very well. Only up to 1/4". Bora Care will penetrate up to 2". Both products can only be applied to bare wood. They will not penetrate stain, paint, varnish, etc… See full answer »

Timbor is not the best product to use for wood that is going to be stained or painted. The reason is that it is basically a powder that is mixed with water and then applied to wood. When the water dries, it leaves a powdery residue. It is difficult to remove all of the powder in order to paint or stain. Timbor is best used on wood that is rough, weathered or in hidden areas such as attics, crawl spaces, etc.

Bora Care is the product of choice on wood that is going to be stained or painted. It contains glycol that helps to dilute the Sodium Borate and also helps to penetrate the wood. After application take a wet sponge and wipe off the wood if there are any sticky spots, and then sand smooth and paint. Bora Care needs to dry at least 72… See full answer »

I have an antique car with a wooden frame under the aluminum body and see signs of power post beetles after being in storage for 30 months. Will using this damage the car? I'm not sure if I will dust or spray onto the wood. See more »

Timbor is boron, which is a mineral element. It is similar to salt and therefore very corrosive to metals. Another option is called Totality. It is not as corrosive and could be used around metals. Here is the link - http://www.epestsupply.com/cgi-bin/sh...

Yes, but if the logs have a high moisture content, it may not penetrate. Timbor is dry powder that mixes with water. So basically, the drier the log, the higher the level of penetration.

Just trying to figure out how much to order. Some pesticides/etc have a 2-3 year shelf life unopened. I just don’t want to lose any effectiveness if I buy more than I need now and it won’t be good for bath remodel down the road. See more »

Timbor is basically Boron which is a mineral element. It does not expire - ever. As long as the product remains dry, it should last many, many years - decades.

We just built and installed the cabinets using Hickory and noticed piles of beetle dust every AM. We live in a wood house and can't afford this to get out of hand. We hate to tear the cabinets out, but will if needful. Is this a safe effective treatment? See more »

If the cabinets are stained and sealed, then the only way to apply ANY chemical product is to completely sand them down and then apply the product. Timbor is not a great product for kitchen cabinets. It will leave a powdery residue. The best product is BoraCare, but the wood has to be bare. The basic method is to sand, treat with BoraCare and then refinish. Hope this helps.

There is no product or spray that can be applied over paint, stain or varnish that will saturate through it and absorb into the wood. Timbor is water based, as are all currently available wood treatments and will not penetrate paint. The surface of the wood has to be sanded bare, or the wood has to be drilled and pocket holes made every 6 square inches. If drilling pocket holes, this is a different process that might not be applicable to any wood except beams or posts.

We removed the inner walls of our horse barn. Thousands of Pamettos living there. Is there a product that we can apply prior to putting new interior walls that will keep them out?

If not, then what is the best and safest application after we do the barn remodel?

The best thing to use to toxify the walls for a long period of time is Timbor.

It's considered professional use in New York and only available to Licensed persons / pest companies. Not many of the high quality professional products can be sold to unlicensed persons in NY. We can ship to almost all surrounding States if you know someone that can forward it to you.

Just make sure that there is no visible Timbor residue on the wood before you glue it, and use a quality wood glue. I personally would consider using wood screws.
